LOOKS AND DESIGN: The Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster looks exotic and would definitely give Harley Davidson's a run for their money. The big parallel twin engine takes the center stage, while a large tank with chrome trimmings sits on top. The motorcycle gets exhausts on either sides which are completely dipped in shiny chrome. The engine gets a matte chrome color, which attracts the moment you see the motorcycle. The rider sits really low at 705mm just like any other cruiser, and the handlebars are wide enough for a comfortable ride.
The Speedmaster has a strong attitude with forward foot pegs, swept back handlebars, wide seats giving you the distinctive cruiser feel. The headlight assembly design is classic like the Triumph's from early 60's, yet houses a full LED unit with DRL. The tail section is subtle with a classic chrome grab rail, and a long swing cage rear fender which houses the LED tail lamp unit.
ENGINE AND PERFORMANCE: The Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster is powered by the same engine as seen on the Bobber which is a 1,200cc parallel twin liquid cooled engine which churns out 77 HP at 6,100 RPM and 106 Nm of torque at 4,000 RPM respectively. The engine is fueled by multi-point sequential Electronic Fuel Injection system and has a Ride By Wire throttle body. The motorcycle is still chain driven and has a wet multiplate clutch with slip assist function. The transmission is a standard 6 speed unit. The exhaust system is a fully chromed stainless steel 2 into 2 unit.
ELECTRONICS AND FEATURES: The Bonneville Speedmaster gets loads of modern electronic technology though the looks are old school. The motorcycle gets switchable Traction Control System, Ride by Wire throttle bodies, rain and road riding modes, Cruise Control, Engine Immobilizer, onboard trip computer and ABS as a part of the standard package. The motorcycle also gets heated grips to keep you going irrespective of the weather. The instrument cluster has an analogue speedometer with a LCD multi functional instrument pack which has the gear position indicator, fuel guage, range to empty et al.
BRAKES, CHASSIS AND SUSPENSION: The Speedmaster sits on a tubular steel cradle frame with twin sided swingarms. The wheels are spoked and both are of 16 inches. The motorcycle is suspended by 41mm KYB telescopic forks up front with cartridge damping and a KYB monoshock with linkage and stepped preload adjuster at the rear. Braking duties are carried out by twin 310mm discs with Brembo 2 piston floating calipers at front and a single 255mm disc with Nissin single piston floating caliper at the rear. The motorcycle rides on a fat 130/90 B16 tyre at the front and a 150/80 R16 at the rear.
