With so many products available in the market today and all of them promising to be the best one you can buy, it is only fair from our end to take to our biker friends the correct information. And this is only possible by extensively reviewing the product by using it in real time conditions and not test conditions to see how they perform. So in our quest to test out the products available in the market, today for testing we have the Xado Chain Clean and Chain Lube.About the Company:
Xado India is a subsidiary of the Ukraine based Xado Lubricants. They have a global presence with a huge range of products including octane boosters and performance enhancers among such lubricants as lubes and cleaners and engine oils. Being an international company with such premium products that even cost quite some; the expectation from the products is also pretty high comparatively. So let’s get on with the review and see how Xado Chain Clean and Chain Lube fared in our review.
Xado Chain Cleaner:The product sample provided to us by the company was a small can really so I was a bit skeptical as to how many clean will this last. The answer to that question is 1.5 uses and that is it. The chain clean solution is the nail paint removing kind of solution that when sprayed on the chain dries up completely and very quickly. I almost reached to the end of the chain clean and my chain was still as dirty and covered in grime as it was before spraying over. Conclusion; the Chain Clean has zero percent efficiency, period.
Even scrubbing with my grime brush made no difference since not only did the grime on the chain not loosen up, but it actually had become harder and had stuck on more strongly on the chain. Later it was a huge tussle with my favorite cleaners of all time, WD 40 and my grime brush to get all the grime off. And then with the huge disappointment it was time for the lube to be sprayed on.
Xado Chain Lube:The Lube provided by the company was also a small unit with the nozzle already being provided with the directional unit which is a good thing. It becomes quite the hassle otherwise to attach the directional pipe on the nozzle and then spray on the lube. Application of the lube was a pretty standard affair, though the spread of the lube and its coverage on the chain was not quite satisfactory for me.
After the application was done it was time to ride. I kept my bike idle for about 30 mins or so after application since I needed that time to clean up and also it gave the lube the time to seep into the chain properly and cover it up. I then took my bike out for a small ride around town to run some errands and the one biggest thing that came to my notice blew my mind away. The chain felt like it had absolutely no lube on it. It felt all clunky and made a lot of noise. I immediately went back home, took the lube and sprayed on more of it until the chain was completely drenched in the lube and my can was almost near to empty.
The next day I went on a small ride to check how the lube worked and it was again not a good feeling to have. The chain felt rough, the gear shifts were clunky and they stuck while shifting causing a lot of issues on the ride. It was only 150 kms when I had to actually get that thing off my bike and shift back to my regular lube.
Final Review and Thoughts:Xado Chain Clean and Chain Lube was the worst experience I have ever had from any of the products that I have tried on till date. The performance of my bike was hit and the feeling of having it on was not at all reassuring. To sum it up, I would definitely not be recommending this product to anyone and rather I would recommend the Xado to please work on their product to make it efficient to justify the price tag you have for your products.
If you happen to have any queries about Xado Chain lube and Chain clean and wish to try it on, I would say that it is on your own risk because having used over 6 products till now and reviewed most of them, Xado was by far the most expensive product in the lineup and yet the least performing one. So if you are searching for a lube for your bike, there are plenty of fish in the sea but this one is not it.
Notes For Xado:You have an international base as a company and yet your product performed really badly in our reviews is a big downer. There are many big brands in the market and you also feature among them and when a brand like yours performs this bad in reviews and tests, there is a need for your planning team to sit together and check out as to what went wrong here.
The only suggestion to give you here is to please work on your products again from the basic research and development level to bring out a worthy product to the Indian market. The competition here is huge and harsh and this way you would not really stand a chance against others.
