1. Suzuki Slingshot Plus
2. Bajaj Discover 125
3. TVS Phoenix
4. Hero MotoCorp Super Splendor
5. Honda CB Shine
1. Suzuki Slingshot: Suzuki launched the bike among a lot of fanfare, but sadly none of the Suzuki bikes in the market took off as the company would have liked to. The Slingshot is yet another failure story from the company even though the bike is a decent and able performer. The styling on the bike is pretty good compared to the other bikes in the class. And yet again, the company rated top speed of 120 kmph is almost in the 150cc performance class.
The bike gets its juice from a 124cc air cooled engine churning out a miniscule 8.5 bhp of power @ 7500 RPM, yet the bike as the company claims is capable of good speed and an equally good mileage of 69 Kmpl which is a bigger cherry on the cake. Suzuki has also taken the efforts to price the bike competitively at INR 51,000/- ex-showroom Delhi.
2. Bajaj Discover 125: Bajaj as we know makes the most value for money products in the Indian market. The Discover 125 is no different a story. The bike may not be the cheapest in the market, but it sure is packing enough to justify the cost as it is quite the looker compared to some other bikes in the market. Bajaj has also been improving a lot lately on its engines and after sales service making it a pretty decent choice to be taken.
The Bajaj Discover 125 is powered by a 124.6cc air cooled engine churning out 10.8 bhp of power at 8000 RPM to take the bike up to triple digit speeds. It also returns a decent 76 Kmpl mileage to go with making it quite a fuel efficient bike. The bike will set you back by INR 51,003/- ex-showroom Delhi.
3. TVS Phoenix 125: TVS Phoenix might not be the best looking bike in the segment or is it???, anyways it goes about its business well in a no-nonsense fashion. The bike is a looker in terms of looks and it performs well too, which is what it is made for. The cost might be bit higher compared to the competition but it still makes it to the third position in our list of the most affordable bikes.
The bike is powered by a 125.5cc air cooled motor pelting out 10.84 bhp of power at 8000 RPM. The mileage is 67 Kmpl which is decent for the class as the bike overall is pretty decent overall. One might not want to get it in the first look, but it is more about a head v/s heart decision here in this case. The bike costs INR 52,369/- ex-showroom Delhi.
4. Hero MotoCorp Super Splendor: Hero MotoCorp Super Splendor was quite the seller until competition came in and then it started facing a considerable slowdown owing to the higher cost of the machines, and this is the case here as well. The Super Splendor is still selling owing to the trust put in by the consumers in the company and its quality and service since the Hero Honda days which still happens to continue.
The Super Splendor gets a 124.7cc engine churning 9 bhp at 7000 RPM. The engine is smooth and relaxed through the power band and the bike goes about its business with ease. The bike does miss out on features like disc brakes which the competitors possess even at lower cost, but that is Hero for you guys. The bike comes in at 4th position in our list with the cost of INR 54,195/- ex-showroom Delhi. 5. Honda CB Shine:
Probably the most popular 125cc bike in the current market and also one of the most popular bikes in the entire Indian market. Honda Shine won many hearts with its conservative yet elegant styling and the smooth revving yet peppy engine, a classic Honda. And then there was the factor of good mileage coupled with total value of money product.
The Honda Shine runs on a 124.7cc air cooled engine churning out 10.57 bhp @ 7500 RPM which is decent amount of power to extract from an engine this size. Also the 65 Kmpl mileage on the bike helps keep the fuel bills low and the power is good to cruise around in the city with ease. The bike is available for the price of INR 55,560/- ex-showroom Delhi and is the most expensive 125cc bike among the top 5 affordable motorbikes in the market today.
This is our list of the top 5 affordable 125cc motorcycles in the Indian market right now. With new launched we might see the cost of motorcycles come down a little owing to rise in competition, but with the BS VI norms to set it, it doesn’t seem like to be the case in the coming future. So if you wish to plan to buy a 125cc bike for a cheaper cost, now would be the perfect time and this is your helping guide to choose from among the most affordable bikes in the market.
