Looks And Design: The Honda Cliq is the second unique product after their critically acclaimed Honda Navi. The Honda Cliq is designed in a very unique way that it doesn't entirely resemble any of their outgoing scooter. The Cliq is almost a mix of it all, as the headlights are positioned in the centre just like the Dio, but the shape of the assembly is similar to an Activa. The front mudguards look like a direct pick from the current generation Honda Dio. The side of the scooter very much resembles the little Honda Navi while the small integrated visor with branding looks like a design philosophy from the Dio. The lengthy handlebar is very unique, as it looks like it is retro fitted from a bike (prominent with stunt riders). The rear of the scooter is very similar to the Navi, as it gets the exactly similar rear mudguard and a pretty suttle taillight unit. The seat is pretty wide and long, with a large under seat capacity and a much wider footboard.
Engine And Performance: The Honda Cliq uses exactly their tested and much trusted, predominant 110cc engine which is already used in Activa 4G, Dio and others. The 109.19cc air cooled engine makes 8.2 PS of power at 7,000 rpm and 8.9 Nm torque at 5,500 rpm. Driving the rear wheel is again their vastly used smooth automatic CVT. The Cliq is expected to have a top speed of anywhere between 80 and 90 kmph, given the same engine and weight figures for a Dio. The major downside of the Cliq would be the fuel tank capacity, as the tank is capable of taking only 3.5 litres of petrol reducing the range under 150 kilometres.
Equipment & Features: The Honda Cliq has a basic analogue instrument cluster that has a speedometer, analogue fuel gauge, odometer and all other tell tale lights. Just like any other Honda scooter, the Cliq also gets Honda's patented Combi brake technology and a similar suspension setup as the Honda Dio. There is a basic designed pillion grab rail which would just do the designated job. Front turn indicators come integrated to the front panel while the rear ones are separate with the number plate unit. Only downside is that the turn indicators are not clear lens and have a bit of an ugly orange coloured lens.
Final Impression: The Honda Cliq bears the cheapest scooter in the market, but doesn't get the priorities sorted. The Cliq might add up as just yet another scooter in the fleet of Honda, as the design looks a bit pointless taking cues from the Navi, Dio and Activa. The actual final impression can be seen once the scooter comes on sale and we get the sales figures after a month or so. The scooter will be manufactured at the Rajasthan plant, where it'll go on sale for first followed by the rest of the states. The Honda Cliq is priced at Rs. 42,999 (ex showroom Delhi) and will be available in four different colour options. By: Aravind Rb
