Now having clip ons is no always a bad thing, but when it comes to attaching accessories on bikes, this becomes an issue because there are really many things associated with it. But then again, there is a work around for everything in this world and hence I also have one by which I have attached the charger on my Bajaj Pulsar 200NS. When I contacted the customer support of BOLT, they did suggest some methods including the one which could have had me drilling a hole on the plastic part of the fuel tank, but I did not want that. So the other option was to create a separate platform on to fix the BOLT charger. As you can see in the images given below, I have used a simple metal plate and fixed it up on the holding screw of my left rear view mirror. This allowed me to bend the plate to form an L shape and hence I screwed up the holding bracket of the BOLT charger on top of it. This is pretty sturdy a method to fix the unit as well as does not cause any hindrances whatsoever to use the switchgear on that side as well. Plus the unit doesn’t rattle or vibrate under any circumstance which is a good thing at least in the city. It is still left to test it out on the highway and see if there are issues at higher speeds with the windblast and also the high vibrations of the bike at high speeds, though I am confident that there should not be any issues. Coming to the pouch that has been provided with the charger, the pouch has been attached to the tank and the rear tying straps are a bit short to reach anywhere to tie, so I had them tied to the chassis under the rider’s seat. That means I will not really be able to remove it as easily without getting the seat off first, but it is a compromise and I don’t really have an option there until I get a proper tank bag for the bike. The good thing though is that it does not block my fuel tank cap, it opens and closes without any hindrance of the straps. So that’s all for now about fixing the charger to your bike with clip on handlebars. There are some other methods too like fixing it on the brake fluid container which fits, but then it is not really recommended since it causes servicing issues and also I do not wish to tamper with anything major, but some have done it that way and you too could check it out if you wish to. Do check out the complete review of the BOLT Smart Charger as it runs through the paces of handling all the tough conditions of heat and even rain and see how it fares and is it really worth it all.
