The MotoE will be a cup instead of a world championship because every rider will ride the same bike, The Energica Ego Corsa. The bike was revealed back in February, it produces 145 HP and 200 Nm of torque. The torque figure is massive for a bike of this size, so the throttle on it is reconfigured to be electric and adjustable within 1/100th of a degree. The bike also has 6-level traction control for a customisable power delivery.
The current specs of Energica Ego Corsa are still not final and the bike is merely a prototype at this stage. The final version will be revealed at the starting of MotoE season. Speaking of which, the series will begin in 2019 and will include 5 rounds, mainly in Europe. There are 6 independent MotoGP teams taking part in the race along with Moto2 and Moto3 groups.
The MotoGP teams are allowed to have two riders in their group while Moto2 and Moto3 teams will enter the competition with a single rider. All the teams have been confirmed and now only the dates are left to be finalised.
All the teams, by default, are sponsored by Enel, which is an Italian company producing electricity and gas. The races are expected to be 8-laps long due to the limitation of battery capacity in motorcycles.
