Design: The Jarvis is a helmet that can be used as your daily helmet in the city and for long rides too. From the design perspective, the helmet gets nice decals with loads of funky color options like, neon green, orange, blue and much more. The color on the review helmet was the neon green surrounded with black, yellow and grey stripes. The helmet looks very funky and can easily attract loads of eyeballs.
The shell of the helmet is made out of poly-carbonate and is certified by DOT and ECE. The helmet gets 6 vents to be precise, two for the forehead area, one for the mouth with three openings with a sliding mechanism to open and close the vent, then there are two for the back head and two for the lower part of the head. The plastic used for the sliding mechanism is very good and is far better compared to lots of other brands in the market. It gets nice and thick cheek pads and also a chin guard. The chin guard is made out of a mesh on top and a cloth on the bottom. The helmet gets the standard lock system and misses out on the D ring. The quality of the lock is pretty good, it also gets a small red loop for easier release of the lock.
A very nice feature is that it also gets a small reflector at the lower part of the head. The padding color matches the color pattern that is used outside just the gray and black bits alone. The helmet weighs about 1400 grams. Overall it is a very well designed helmet.
Visibility: All the variants in the Jarvis model get a mercury visor. It's got a very dark coloring to it. Which is a boon and a curse both. The boon is that it looks very sexy when you wear it and I'm sure no one's gonna know when you look at them. And the small curse is the poor visibility it offers during night times. It would have been a great move by AXOR and clear visor availability in spares.
The visors are UV coated and are also scratch resistant, yeah I know that sounds good. During a hot sunny day, the visor is awesome to use, yeah it saves my eyes from the sun and also look at hot girls pass by😅. The visor does a good job even if finger prints fall on them. It is a little too prone to scratches, but I'm happy that the color hasn't faded even a bit in spite using it for about a month and a half, well it did fade on my THH helmet.
During night times, I'm blind 🙈 I can see only the lights from the vehicle and its worse when there are no street lights. The quality of the visor has to be improved a little, since it feels a bit flimsy. The visor is very easy to remove and clean. Just at the press of a button attached to a spring and there it releases for a clean.
Ventilation: As I already said it's got 6 air vents for their respected roles. They do a great job and also get a stainless steel mesh to prevent big dust and dirt particles from entering into the helmet. Up to 80kmph the wind noise is very minimal, post which wind noise begins to creep in. And past 120kmph, you can hear whistling noise too. With the vents open, wind noise is heard post 70kmph and the whistle noise too is heard when I bow down my head a bit. But that's a bearable noise. The ventilation is very good in the helmet, even under a hot sun, the heat isn't felt much, because the visor also does a great job in reducing the heat levels. It also gets a nose guard so that the fogging is reduced too. Merits:
* Attractive looks.
* Cost efficient.
* Good for city rides.
Demerits:
* Misses out the D ring.
If you are living in a place like Chennai, this helmet is the best companion for you, but if you are living in a place like Shimla where there is no sun or the sun sets soon, it's little hard to use it. But if you are looking for a helmet under rupees 4000, then trust me, it's the best option in terms of looks, quality and safety.
