When manufacturers surprise the riders with new motorcycles, it gives the enthusiasts a feeling that is one level higher to a launch that is planned. Yamaha has brought in their new baby in the market the FZ25, a machine that sounds dull on paper but performs and looks extremely thunderous in reality. But the twist in the story is that the FZ25 and the R15 both motorcycles offered from Yamaha are placed at the same price tag. So which one would you prefer? KTM launched the Duke 250 as a total surprise for everyone, including the media; though there were rumors going around about the launch. But on the other hand, the KTM Duke 200 is not an all new bike. It is merely an upgrade to the previous KTM Duke 200. And due to this, there are some differences between the Duke 250 and the Duke 200 that are more than just technical bits about the engine and performance. Yes, the Duke 250 does have substantially more power and torque over the 200, but there are some bits in the Duke 250 which the Duke 200 misses out on which we have listed down below.
KTM did quite a number on the Indian biking fraternity by launching the Duke 250 out of the blue. There is an old saying that says, don't trust anything unless you witness it, initially I wasn't very impressed with the Yamaha FZ25's looks that were shooting up on the Internet, but the whole impression changes when I saw the motorcycle in flesh. The eagerness started to grow more and more as the demand for the motorcycle started to increase in a flash, the people wanted to witness the motorcycle for its killer pricing and reliability simply because it is a Yamaha. So we at BikesIndia got our hands on the Yamaha FZ25 and here's how it surprised us.
KTM entered the Indian two wheeler market with a bang, a huge one! First they brought the Duke 200 which mesmerized the entire biking fraternity with the light weight and amazing looks and power adding to the oomph factor. And not to mention the plethora of advanced features in such a light weight motorcycle such as fuel injection and underbelly exhaust. Then KTM brought in the Duke 390 and got the pants off everybody. It was an absolute market killer with features and power and looks, all bundled in a price which was a feat unbeatable, and it still is the most value for money product in the Indian market in its category.
To all of our surprise, KTM threw a bombshell by launching the all new Duke 250 in India. Though the previous generation styled Duke 250 was built and exported to European countries till 2016, Indian launch was highly unlikely considering that the Duke 200 was already on sale. What KTM did was pure genius, as they launched the Duke 250 which is a slight downgrade from the 390 in terms of power, and a big upgrade from the 200 mechanically and aesthetically.
