With around a minute and a half to go, it was unbelievable to see "The Doctor" to be on provisional pole with a broken right leg. That excitement diminished as Maverick Viñales and Jorge Lorenzo took the top 2 spots in succession. Marc Marquez was on a hot lap trying to get a fifth straight pole at Aragon, but crashed out on a fast left hander. In the end, Maverick Viñales took pole followed by Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi.
Cal Crutchlow ended as top satellite rider at P4, followed by Marquez and Pedrosa. Andrea Dovizioso starts from the front of the third row at P7. Aleix Espargaro was impressive throughout as he starts from P8 followed by Alvaro Bautista and Andrea Iannone. Johann Zarco, coming from Q1 ended the session at P11 followed by KTM Factory test rider Mika Kallio at P12.
