Looks and Styling
The looks and styling of this motorcycle is inspired from adventure motorcycles and of course if it is an adventure motorcycle it should look like one, it has raised front mudguard, with disc brakes on both the wheels, spoke wheel are offered instead of alloys, which is good considering the purpose this motorcycle will serve. The RE Himalayan has black-painted engine with round halogen headlamps, it has 15 liters of fuel tank capacity which is good but more 3-5 litres could have been better. Himalayan has high raised handlebar ,LED tail lamps, upswept silencer, 800mm rider friendly seat height, nice instrument cluster (it has analogue speedometer, tachometer and fuel indicator whereas the time, trip readings, odometer, temperature and digital compass are displayed in digital screen), the Himalayan comes with luggage mounting points at both the ends to carry luggage, Jerry cans, etc. Anyways the design and styling is very neat in this adventure motorcycle. Engine and Features
The Himalayan is blessed with an all new engine from Royal Enfield, the 411cc oil-cooled, single cylinder motor which pumps out 24.5 bhp @ 6500 rpm and torque of 32 Nm @ 4000-4500 rpm. This is the most refined engine from Royal Enfield as the vibrations are also reduced, with the help of counter-balancer. The engine is mated to 5 speed manual transmission, seems the power and torque will not disappoint the rider, specially the torque. Coming to the features the Himalayan has 41mm thick front suspension with mono shock at the rear. The front has 21 inch wheel while the rear has 17 inch wheel. The front has 300mm disc with 2 piston floating caliper while the rear has 240mm disc with single piston caliper. Himalayan has a good ground clearance of 220 mm to serve the purpose, it has a high placed headlamp with a high wind screen to protect the riders. The weight of the motorcycle is a bit on the heavier side with 182 kgs. Price and Colours
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is speculated to be priced at around INR 1.65 to 1.8 lacs (ex-showroom). As of now the Himalayan will be offered in only two colours - Black and White.
