The event was held at Inorbit Mall, Nagar Road, Pune who is the official venue partner for Bikerhood. A lot of biking groups like the Bajaj Avengers Riders Club, the Pune Jawa Yezdi Riders Club, Naked Wolves, The Lycans and more were present for the event. There was a nice 10 kms ride around the area after which Sachin Ramesh Shinde and Tina Mohandas, co-founders of the Bikerhood initiative presented a small video showcasing how the bikers can contribute towards the welfare of the society and showcase the true Bikerhood in them. It is not all about monetary charity, but giving one’s little time to others can also make a huge difference.
The motorcycling scene in India has grown and flourished at a very fast pace this past-decade, and we want to unite all of the biking groups across the nation. We want to encourage and appreciate them for going the extra mile, and to make an effort to improve the standard of living in our nation. We are not asking bikers to donate to us in any fashion: instead, we are asking them to consider giving back to nature and donating a small but meaningful amount of time and effort to charity. To us, a true biker is not defined by one’s ride, but by one’s spirit.- they quoted. Also present for the event was Mr. Baljeet Singh who spoke to the crowd how he helps out the ones near his home by feeding whoever wishes to have a good meal that day. He reached out to the bikers to help him in his cause if not monetarily then by giving some time for the cause. Among the crowd was also Geet Singh Bindra, the hero who sold his bike to help the earthquake victims in Nepal.
Tina Mohandas also showcased the idea of a new web platform they are setting up to bring all the biking groups on a common platform and put up a points based ranking system based on the work done by each groups. And at the end of every year, the group on top and one individual will be awarded for their great work that they have done. The idea is to bring in some healthy competition as well for doing some good for society.
There were over 50 bikers present for the event and it was a successful turnout. The arrangements done were spot on and it was a great event. The Bikerhood initiative is a very noble cause taken up and we wish them all the best for all their future endeavors.
