Royal Enfield is not taking part in the Auto Expo’16 and hence they have decided to unveil their strategically important product just one day ahead of the expo. The new RE Himalayan is an adventure touring machine made by Royal Enfield from the scratch, the company claims that they have not even used single pin from the existing product lineup. The new Himalayan is constructed around a brand new flexible chassis, where a brand new 410cc single cylinder SOHC engine sits in.
The new 410cc engine is called by the company as LS410 (Long Stroke 410cc), the mill is featured with 2-valve setup and is being fueled by a conventional carburetor. As far as using the Carburetor in new Himalayan for fueling is concerned, the company officially states that they actually wanted to keep the bike more simple and easy to maintain keeping the DIY concept followed by most of the riders.
The long stroke 410cc engine featured on the new Himalayan is capable of producing 24.5 Ps of power at 6500 Rpm and it tops the peak torque of 32 Nm at 4000 rpm. The 410cc SOHC motor is mated to 5-speed transmission and the bike can achieve 130 Kmph of top speed.
The new Himalayan is suspended on front 41mm telescopic fork with 200mm travel and a meaty linkage type mono shock with 180mm wheel travel at rear. The RE has used Ceat Gripp tyres with universal profile, the front wheel is featured with 21 inch large profile tyre commonly used in off road machines, whereas the rear wheel is featured with 120/90-17 profile Ceat tyre.
The new Royal Enfield Himalayan will be available in two colors- Black and White and there will be lots of attachments sold off the shelf for hardcore touring purpose. The price of the new Himalayan will be revealed when it is available for sale at the showrooms across the country in the month of March. Although, the company has not uttered a word about the pricing but we expect the new Himalayan to be priced between Rs 1.80- 2.0 Lacs.
