Jorge Lorenzo continued his form at Brno, by leading Free practice 3 and finishing the other three practices within the top three.
Jorge set a blistering 1:54.989, the fastest ever lap on two wheels at this venue, and the first ever lap in the 1:54's. He already broke the fastest lap set by Cal Crutchlow in 2013, twice. He'll start from pole position in tomorrow's 22 lap showdown.
Marc Marquez gained his confidence and form, with two successive wins at the Sachsenring and Indianapolis. His laptime is just seven hundredth of a second slower than Jorge's pace setting laptime, and will start from the middle of the first row.
Another man who gained his form in qualifying, is Valentino Rossi. The 36 year old finished FP3 in second place behind Jorge Lorenzo and had a messed up qualifying session in the initial stages, but went on a Brilliant lap in the final stages of the qualifying session to secure the last spot in the front row, 0.364 seconds behind Jorge Lorenzo. This will be his only second front row start of the season, after the tremendous pole position at Assen few weeks ago.
Second row starts with the fiery red Desmosedici of Andrea Iannone. The Italian tested the updated version of the Desmosedici in the free practice sessions but decided to stick with the older version for the rest of the season. Iannone finished 0.401 seconds behind the pole sitter, a 1:55.390 which set him on 4th place.
Bradley Smith had an impressive weekend so far, improving his laptimes every now and then. The "best starter in the GP class" set a 1:55.471, which sets him at his best starting position of this season at the middle of the second row- Fifth.
On sixth, the Desmosedici of Andrea Dovizioso. The Italian stuck with the updated version of the Desmosedici which had a smoother power delivery and a slimmer fairing, as opposed to his team mate who stuck to the older version. His lap time is almost a second slower than the record laptime- a 1:55.954 which sets him at sixth.
Further down the grid is the nineteen year old rookie- Maverick ViƱales. The Suzuki Ecstar rider impressed everyone with his riding style and his laptimes, out qualifying his more experienced teammate- Aleix Espargaro. Maverick will start from seventh on the grid in today's race.
Pol Espargaro had a disastrous weekend, as he failed to finish in the top 10 in free practice 3, crashed at turn 11 in free practice 4, and finished the session on his #2 bike. He had to go through Qualifying 1, which gobbled one medium option rear tire from his allocation and couldn't run the pace as the front runners did. The Spaniard will start from 8th position in his 150th Grand Prix appearance.
A bad crash in Free practice 2 due to oil from the busted fork seal of his Honda RC213V, Dani Pedrosa had a nasty high-side at turn 9, damaging his left foot and causing discomfort throughout the session. The ailing Repsol Honda man will start from Ninth place in today's race.
