Nicky Hayden was hit by a car when he was practicing cycling in Italy last week and suffered severe chest and head injuries. He was rushed to a hospital and was transferred to the intensive care unit of Maurizio Bufalini hospital in Cesena. He remained in a critical condition throughout the weekend and got worse on Monday. The hospital quoted that Nicky had suffered "a serious polytrauma" which is a medical term to describe a person who has suffered multiple traumatic injuries.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Nicky was given a breathalyzer test and was not found to have been over the limit of alcohol during the time of accident. Italian police confirmed that they will be releasing the conclusions to this incident by July.
He began his racing career with a cycle that taught him how to ride a motorcycle, the same cycle took him to paradise. Nicky Hayden is one of the greatest MotoGP racers and will always be remembered for his greatness.
