*** Andrea Dovizioso will remain with the Ducati factory squad for two upcoming seasons.
The 30 Year old from Romagna joined the Ducati squad in 2013, filling in the slot vacated by Valentino Rossi who defected back to the tuning forks marque (Yamaha). He has played a vital role in developing the 1000cc Desmosedici GP motorcycle under the leadership of Tech Supremo Gigi Dall'Igna. Their combination transformed a lazy Desmosedici GP14 to a Radical, Razor sharp GP15.
Andrea Dovizioso:
I'm pleased to have reached this agreement with Ducati and to be able to continue the adventure we collectively began back in 2013. We've worked hard over the years to transform the Desmosedici into a very competitive package and we shall reap the rewards for our hard work soon.
Luigi "Gigi" Dall'Igna, Ducati's team Principal and General Manager states,
It's never easy to take a decision like this when you've got two great riders like the two Andrea's. We're very pleased that Andrea (Dovizioso) has agreed to continue with us for another two years and we can continue the work towards success which we started back in 2013 and achieve the ambitious goals we set. Sorry to Andrea Iannone who will be leaving us at the end of the season. Andrea (Iannone) has done a great job in providing inputs and contributed for the development of the Desmosedici GP16. We thank him for this and we shall give our utmost with him to achieve the best results possible.
The news of Dovi's continuation with the Italian marque comes just days before the pair's home grand prix of Mugello. With his future set and sealed, "Desmo Dovi" can concentrate on his Home Grand Prix and try to win the Desmosedici's first race win after Casey Stoner won the Bolognan Missile's last race in Phillip Island 2010.
