Mahindra Two Wheelers have announced the launch date of its new 110cc autogear scooter- Gusto, the launch is scheduled on 29th September'14. Mahindra was rigorously testing this auto gear scooter under code name "G101", which is finally christened as Gusto with "O" being importantly added to the end as it is the case with their other Mahindra products.
Mahindra will launch the Gusto in two phases, firstly they are going to launch Gusto in Western and Northren parts of the country along with Nepal on 29th Sep, later in few months time they will launch it in the rest of the parts of country. Mahindra also has plans for exporting the Gusto to the Central American, African and South Asian countries.
Mahindra Two Wheelers have not only disclosed the name of its upcoming scooter but have also told to the Media that it would be equipped with 110cc M-TEC engine made of all aluminum designed and developed by the Mahindra Two Wheelers R&D Team at Pune. While engine being developed indigenously the designing of the Gusto is being done by some Italian design firm.
It is also being told by the company that the new Gusto is developed with the extensive research based on the customer feedback. It is believed that the 110cc engine would deliver 8.0 Ps of power and around 8.5 Nm of torque. The Rodeo and Duro did not do anything great for Mahindra as both are 125cc scooters with not so frugal engine. Mahindra has now bet on 110cc engine which is believed to be fuel efficient to compete with Honda Activa 110, Hero Maestro, TVS Jupiter and Suzuki Lets.
Mahindra Two Wheelers have to price the Gusto rightly to make a dent in the existing competition in 110cc autogear scooter segment. Mahindra not only have to price the Gusto prudently but they have to elevate the level of quality also along with the expansion of its existing service network through out the country.
