Interestingly KTM seems to be in a mood to arrive in total style by launching a litre class Adventure bike rather than a 390 or a 690 and we totally love it. And the best part about this is the 1190 Adventure R will be coming via the CKD route and will help keep the costs down to keep it really competitive. The bike will be going head on against the Triumph Tiger XCx which has launched just recently and also the Ducati Multistrada 1200S which is expected to launch in India pretty soon.
The KTM 1190 Adventure R comes with an 1195cc V-twin Engine with liquid cooling and produces 150PS of power and 125Nm of torque which are pretty amazing figures for a tourer. It comes loaded with combined ABS, WP suspension, 220mm ground clearance, a 23 litre fuel tank for those long rides between breaks and also a Motorcycle Stability Control (ESP equivalent in cars) and a real time tyre pressure monitoring system.
Pitching it up against the competition, the Ducati is still some time ago, and the Hero impulse is a simple 150cc machine which is totally out of the league. Left are the Triumph Tigers which are also pretty loaded with 800cc mills and cost about INR 10-11 lakhs. But considering that the KTM 1190 Adventure R will be coming the CKD path, the cost of the motorcycle is definitely going to be really competitive and plus with the KTM you get a bigger engine, extra power and torque as compared to the Triumphs and most importantly the extensive after sales reach that KTM has all across the country will definitely contribute to it being a pretty sweet deal.
The KTM 1190 Adventure R is touted to be priced at around INR 11-12 lakhs which is a pretty sweet deal for what it has on offer and we hope that KTM launches the bike soon as it is pretty much the touring season in India right now. Source: IndianAutosBlog
