The much-awaited BMW G310 R is here and with its launch, the bike completes the full circle of traveling around the world and finally returning home. The G310 R is the entry-level roadster and the smallest motorcycle with a BMW badge. There is a lot to talk about the bike so let’s jump right into it.
Engine: BMW features a 313 cc single cylinder liquid cooled engine with 4 Valves setup. The engine has a DOHC setup along with an 80 mm bore and 62.1 mm stroke. The fueling is managed through an electronic fuel injection system and the redline of the engine is at 10,500 RPM. The compression ratio is 10.6:1 which is similar to Apache RR 310’s 10.9:1.
Power and Torque:
The G310 R produces 33.6 BHP @ 9500 RPM and 28 Nm of torque @ 7500 RPM. The torque in the bike kicks in at 3100 RPM and maintains a slightly up and slightly down but mostly a stable band up to 8500 RPM. The power delivery is very linear, there is a bump at 4500 RPM but it peaks out at almost 10000 RPM.
Chassis: The bike uses a steel tube frame along with 17 inch alloy wheels. Both wheels are paired up with a steel disc each. A 300 mm disc with a 4-piston caliper at the front and a 240 mm disc with floating piston caliper at the rear, acted upon by a BMW Motorrad ABS, makes emergency braking panic free. Tyres used in this bike are radial in nature; a 110/70 mm tyre hugs the front wheel and a 150/60 mm tyre sticks on the rear wheel. The bike uses 41 mm inverted cartridge Upside down forks at the front and a pre-load adjustable monoshock at the rear.
Dimensions:
The bike has a low seat height of 785 mm and a decent ground clearance of 165 mm. The wheelbase is compact at 1374 mm but it still is 17 mm more than the Duke 390, making it more stable on the highway. The weight of the bike is 158.6 kg and it carries an 11-litre fuel tank, which is surprisingly small for a bike this size.
Electrical: The BMW G310 R features a fully loaded digital LCD screen which has a speedometer, odometer along with gear indicator, engine temperature gauge and fuel consumption gauge. It also has a service reminder, low-oil level indicator and a low battery indicator. There are no riding modes on this bike and the ABS is a dual channel unit.
Price & Colors:
The BMW G310 R is a product intended for global market. With the kind of build quality and performance it has, it can very well be your daily riding motorcycle. The badge of the BMW further elevates the bike to a level where it stands above from the rest of its rivals. The company has priced G 310 R at INR 2.99 Lacs (EX, Showroom). The naked roadster BMW G 310 R is available in 3 color options- Style HP, Cosmic Black, Racing Red.
